October 2007 Prayer List

St. Matthew’s Prayer Ministry
October 2007

October’s scripture verse
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6: 19-21

Please pray for the following needs of St. Matthew Church.

October’s New Requests:
· We offer thanksgiving for those who came to the parish auction and enjoyed the fellowship as well as contributed to the success of the event.
· That all those that have accepted leadership roles in the Capital Campaign will be guided by the Spirit in their endeavor to help expand our physical resources.
· We are grateful for all those dedicating their time and talent to make our upcoming Fall Festival a successful weekend.
· As October is Respect for Life month, please pray for an end to abortion, capital punishment, adult stem cell research and for a greater respect for all life from conception to natural death.
· We pray for all those whose lives are touched by cancer. May God give them the strength to face each day with grace, peace and courage — and the knowledge that God is by their side.

Existing Requests:
· That the Holy Spirit may guide our capital campaign and that Christ’s spirit of generosity and sacrifice may be with all during this endeavor of hope.
· Armed Forces – may God’s protection surround our troops, especially the men and women serving from St. Matthew’s. May God strengthen their families.
· For an increase in stewardship in our parish, that more people will give of their time, treasure and talents for the good of our community
· We lift up the priests of the Archdiocese and the Topeka region as they bless us through their faithful service.

Capital Campaign Prayer
Creator God, ever present in our lives, we at St. Matthew humbly ask for your gift of Counsel so that we may know and recognize your will. Through your Spirit of Wisdom, Generosity and Perseverance, help us, in faith, make the commitments needed so that we may continue to work together to build your kingdom here on earth. As we move toward the future, inspire us during our capital campaign to be good stewards, ever thankful for the gifts you have given us, and may our sacrifices of time, talent and treasure
be united to the sacrifice of your Son Jesus, who is our Lord and Savior, now and forever. Amen.

This Month’s Prayer: Twenty-Third Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff--they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life. - Psalms 23: 1-6
